A Song for Sunday with Blitzen Trapper

I knew absolutely nothing about this band until a week ago. I stumbled upon their album in the Apple Music’s ‘Albums you may also like‘.

Destroyer of the Void is the title track from Blitzen Trapper’s fifth album and it caught my attention right away.

The song starts with a gorgeously unpredictable acapella harmony fest before a harpsichord (!) enters and transitions to the 2nd of many sections. The structure of the song is all over the place but the vocals are top shelf, the playing is great and the production straight out of the 70s.

Stylistically this is an Americana mashup of Queen, Jellyfish, Bowie and ELO — an intriguing combination!

Anybody heard of these guys?

      1. Yes it is very good. It contains a lot of styles. If you would tell someone it came out in 1974…no one would bat an eye.
