The World’s Steepest Street

This post was originally titled ‘Conquering the world’s steepest street’ but that had to be changed. I had it all planned out. I was meant to run up it – the video was rolling and off I went. Got about half way. This street is tough.

The steepest part of Baldwin Street is 161 meters with an average gradient of 1 in 3.41. You really have to try and run up this thing, or even walk, to see how crazy the incline is.

Watching a bus load of people struggling up the street yesterday made me wonder how many people have died trying to get to the top!

Pair this adventure with a visit to the Dunedin Botanic Gardens, just 5 mins down the road.
